Madina MP Donates ¢50,000 To Market Fire Victims

Hon. Francis-Xavier Kojo Sosu, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Madina Constituency, has visited the victims of the recent fire disaster at Madina market in Accra and donated GH¢50,000 to aid their recovery.

During his visit, Hon. Sosu expressed his concerns and spoke with the affected market women.

The fire, which occurred on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, destroyed a one-storey building and several container shops, resulting in losses exceeding GH¢100,000.

Upon arriving at the scene, Hon. Sosu was shown the extent of the damage and met with the traders.

Addressing a gathering of party supporters, fire victims, and onlookers, he urged the community to support the NDC in the upcoming elections.

He shared that he was deeply saddened by the news of the fire and felt compelled to offer assistance to the traders.

Hon. Sosu also encouraged traders to consider fire insurance to protect against future incidents.

He expressed confidence that the Madina constituency would deliver over 120,000 votes for John Mahama in the coming elections.

The leaders of the traders expressed their gratitude to the MP for his support and commitment to addressing women’s issues, especially during times of crisis.

They appreciated his efforts to restore the traders’ livelihoods and confirmed that, despite the extensive damage, there were no casualties.

About 70 traders were affected by the fire.

A thorough screening and validation process has been conducted to ensure transparency in the distribution of support funds to the victims.
