Kingsley Agyemang Supports Kyebi Hospital with Essential Equipment

Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, Dr Kingsley Agyemang, has donated essential medical equipment and consumables to the Kyebi Government Hospital to strengthen healthcare delivery in the municipality.

The items, which were presented to the hospital on Friday, August 21, 2026, include three (3) Suction machines, three (3) Electronic scale with height, two (32) Pulse Oximeter, ten (10) BP machine, ten (10) Thermometers, three (3) Electronic Patient monitor, twenty (20) Wheel chairs, several boxes of Examination gloves, one CTG machines among others.

He also settled all in-patient bills at the facility.

The intervention is aimed at addressing some of the urgent equipment needs of the facility and improving the ability of health professionals to provide quality care to patients.

Speaking during the presentation, Dr Agyemang said the donation was in response to specific needs communicated by the hospital and formed part of his commitment to supporting healthcare delivery in Abuakwa South.

He acknowledged the difficult economic conditions but stressed that healthcare could not be neglected because the consequences of inadequate medical care could be severe.

Dr Agyemang also announced plans to establish what he described as the first dialysis centre in the area next year, citing concerns over the increasing prevalence of kidney-related conditions.

He said the initiative was driven by his observation of rising cases of kidney-related illnesses and the need to provide residents with access to specialised treatment closer to home.

According to him, the private initiative would complement government efforts in healthcare rather than waiting for public interventions, which he said could sometimes take time to respond to urgent needs.

The MP also disclosed that arrangements were being made to settle the medical bills of uninsured in-patients at the facility as part of the support package.

He called for broader community participation in healthcare financing, arguing that improving healthcare delivery should be treated as a shared responsibility involving government, individuals, businesses and other stakeholders.

Dr Agyemang urged well-meaning individuals, corporate organisations, development partners and indigenes of Abuakwa South at home and abroad to support the Kyebi Government Hospital with equipment, infrastructure and other resources.

He said the hospital, being the referral facility in the municipality, needed to be adequately equipped and maintained to provide quality services to residents and patients referred from other facilities.

The MP said the interventions formed part of a broader vision to strengthen healthcare in Abuakwa South through sustained support and partnerships.

As part of that vision, he is also expected to convene an Abuakwa South Health Summit to bring together healthcare professionals, administrators, policymakers, traditional leaders, private-sector actors and development partners.

The summit is expected to provide a platform for stakeholders to identify gaps in healthcare delivery within the municipality and develop practical and sustainable solutions beyond individual donations.

Dr Agyemang expressed appreciation to the hospital’s management and health workers for their service and urged other stakeholders to emulate the gesture by supporting healthcare institutions.

He said collective action would be necessary to improve healthcare infrastructure, equipment and access to specialised services in Abuakwa South.

Dr Isaac Antwi, the Medical Superintendent of the Kibi Government Hospital, expressed gratitude for the donation and appealed to other individuals and organisations to support the facility as it works to improve healthcare delivery to residents.
