MP Condemns Kyebi Zongo Shooting, Calls for Calm and Thorough Investigation

The Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, Dr. Kingsley Agyemang, has condemned the violent incident at Kyebi Zongo in the Eastern Region, which reportedly left a young man with gunshot injuries following a confrontation between some youth and military personnel.

In a statement issued on Sunday, July 12, 2026, the MP said his office had taken note of a viral video showing the incident, which allegedly occurred on Saturday, July 11, 2026. Reports indicate that the confrontation resulted in the shooting and injury of a young man.

Dr. Agyemang described the development as deeply disturbing and strongly condemned all forms of violence and brutality that threaten the lives and safety of residents of Abuakwa South.

“While the full facts surrounding the incident are yet to be officially established, no community should have to witness such unfortunate scenes,” he stated.

The MP disclosed that the victim is currently receiving treatment at the Kyebi Government Hospital and extended his heartfelt wishes for the young man’s full and speedy recovery.

He further appealed to residents, especially the youth, to remain calm, exercise restraint, and allow the appropriate state institutions to conduct investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Dr. Agyemang also called on the relevant security authorities to undertake a thorough, impartial, and transparent investigation to establish the facts and ensure justice is served.

He reaffirmed his commitment to working with all stakeholders to preserve peace and security within the constituency.

“As Member of Parliament, I remain committed to engaging all relevant stakeholders to ensure that peace, law and order prevail within our constituency. Let us remain united, protect one another, and work together in the interest of Abuakwa South,” the statement concluded.
