A member of the ruling New Patriotic Party in the Gomoa Central Constituency, Mr. Kweku Donkor has lashed back at critics, particularly members and supporters of the opposition National Democratic Congress who have taken a swipe at the government’s free Senior High School Policy, describing it as a hasty programme that could not stand the test of time.
But Mr. Donkor has described such critics as ”doom Sayers” who do not want anything good for the nation.
Reacting to the criticism in an interview with the media, Mr. Donkor who is considered by majority of the supporters of NPP as the best choice for the Chairmanship of the party in the Constituency noted that though every policy is bound to face some challenges from its implementation stage, the Free SHS policy was thought through by the president Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo, with every bit of the perceived challenge taken into consideration before its implementation.
Subscribers would recall that some stalwarts of the NDC, including the Member of Parliament for North Dayi in the Volta Region and former Deputy Minister of Education, Okudzeto Ablakwa have attacked the policy, describing it as a hasty decision just to fulfill NPP’s unachievable campaign promise to the electorates.
But Mr. Kweku Donkor has condemned such criticism in no uncertain terms, describing it as a desperate attempt by the opposition NDC to gain cheap political favour from the electorates.
According to him, the Free SHS policy has come to stay, and that the president Akuffo-Addo administration is not perturbed by this baseless criticism and would work to ensure that every Ghanaian child gets access to free Secondary education.
